Hap,
You are right about the RS2 plumbing. It takes the long way around. It is
the same for the 3B and ABY motors.
What a lot - well some - of us are doing is putting a front fed intake
manifold on the 3B/ABY/ADU motors e.g. the Wagner or TS tuning manifolds.
But there is nothing inheirant to the design of the RS2 IC that would
prevent you from taking the short cut from the IC outlet to an IM inlet on
the driver's side. I think the plumbing is the challenge. But it's been
done. The beauty of that solution is that on the 3B, ABY and ADU motors you
lose about 3-4 feet of parasitic, lag increasing piping which, to make
matters even worse, runs along the hot side of the motor. It is one lousy
design.
Richard

Carlie and Randy
If my memory serves, questionable indeed, the plumbing for the RS2 is wrong.
The RS2 uses an intake manifol similar to the 3B engine. The charge air is
routed from the turbo to the the fron of the car, through the I/C and back
again,
then back over the turbo to the back of the engine. It enters the IM at the
firewall. This is why we can't use the RS2 IM for the urS4/6. If I remember
correctly the RS2 I/C directs the air in a U-shaped circuit. It starts on
the
passenger side and ends there as well.
