[s-cars] rear gate rubber seal tear

I noticed that the rear gate rubber seal on my Avant has developed a tear.
 
What's the best way to glue it back together? I tried silicone, but it didnt
hold. I need something that cures quick.

It's sort of sad to see these soft pieces rot away on our aging cars.
