Hi Y'all,
Two or three weeks ago I posted about a missing boost problem. I was
seeing only 18 psig of boost at maximum instead of the 28 psig it is
supposed to be. I found a major leak in the MAF-->Turbo hose. Since this
leak was on the low pressure side of the turbo I was sure it wasn't the
source of the lost boost but it prevented me from pressurizing the rest of
the system. I ordered a new one. It came in yesterday. I also ordered a
new WGFV. I have good news and bad news.
Good news 1: New MAF-->turbo hose is installed.
Good news 2: Blood sacrifice was not required (yet). :-)
Bad news 1: Discovered that the WGFV was installed
backwards. Apparently from the factory.
Good news 3: A new WGFV was installed and restored to designed
orientation. Car drives exactly as before the valve was reversed so no
damage was done by reversing it.
Bad news 2: The new WGFV was a waste of money.
Good news 4: The system now holds pressure.
Bad news 3: The lost boost is being caused by something other than a leak.
For the moment, I'm out of ideas. Suggestions? Would a burnt valve cause
low boost?
Bob
