they are chick cars.

i have two miatas: one of them a spec miata, and the other a street car
with coilovers inherited from the SM. they have terrific handling, a
stiff ride, and accelerate slower than poop out of paul f's ass in a
straight line.

the street miata was supposed to become an SM, but i came to my senses
and bought an SM that had already been built. i was going to dump the
street miata, but it's such a convenient commuter car because it's so
easy to park, and my wife loves the car (remember, it is a chick car).

there is something to be said for driving a car that is paid for and
completely disposable in my mind, and it is very nimble and predictable.
great for buzzing freeway ramps. i have to take out the power steering,
though, as the steering is very quick and with the overassisted steering,
when i go over bumps the weight of my hands are enough to make the car
dart into the next lane.

the SM has had its power steering removed, and the steering feel is
fantastic. you can feel the change in effort as the car accelerates and
deccelerates, and that gives you loads of information about what the car
is going. it is almost kart-like in feel. something that nobody driving
an audi will ever experience. :)
