[s-cars] HRSB install questions

OK, my brother and I attempted to install my new HRSB on my 95 avant
today but we couldn't physically wedge the bar into the correct space.

How the hell do you get the bar over the exhaust?  Is there a special
trick to it? Do I need to drop the exhaust (I really don't want to do
that)?

We had the front wheels up on ramps, the back was supported by two
jack stands in the rear and one floor jack in the middle rear.  I
thought that would be enough height to twsit the new bar up into the
right spot, but I was wrong.

After much pulling and twisting, we were able to pull the old 17mm bar
out the drivers side of the car, but we couldn't wedge the new 26mm
bar back in the same way.

So, is there any way to get the new bar in without putting the car up
on a hoist or removing the exhaust?
