at this pricepoint what you are looking for is known, in the industry,
as Home-Theatre-In-A-Box. despite the name, there are some decent
sytems out there. all include receiver and speakers - the better ones
even include a subwoofer. we went with a Denon HTIB after seeing them
all demoed at CES a couple of years ago. $1500 should actually get you
one of the better systems.

alternatively, go to www.audiogon.com and get some really good used
stuff at pennies on the dollar.
