[s-cars] WAS gas prices, now racist subaru's

It's interesting how many opposite conclusions you hear. Coming from the
owner of a '94 Audi and a '95 Subaru, I say the Subaru's workmanship is
top-notch, maintenance costs are way lower than with an Audi, and
maintenance is way simpler. Two examples are that all of the engine
accessories are out in the open and easily accessible, and the timing belt
is easily changed in 2 hours. The engine appears to be a flimsy toy
compared to the I5, but it "keeps on tickin". The only thing I've seen,
maintenance-wise, when the Subaru is sub-par is that the front crank seals
go faster than the Audi's. The Subaru runs flawlessly, handles great, and
all the little things we're constantly fiddling with on the Audi don't
break. But the Audi is way, way more comfortable and feels like a real
chunk of metal as opposed to a little crackerbox. For any trip longer than
10 minutes I will always choose to take the Audi over the Subaru. I just
have to keep feeding it that steady diet of new parts.
