Jim-
The engine block is different between the 2.5 you're referring to and the 
EJ257 that's in the STi.
That doesn't mean that WRXes and STis don't have head gasket issues. I'm not 
personally familiar with the issue, but if I do have the issue, I have no 
compunction about letting the list know. To date, the car has been perfectly 
reliable, but it's not that old yet- only 17k miles.
