Oh, the "you are an idiot" conversation.
I've managed to avoid that particular one, but then again, my
collecting habits lean toward Italian racing bike components.
Interestingly enough, every so often a heap of unassociated parts
spring into life as a complete bike. And its only then that my
wife notices.
So I've learned something new from the latest exploit, a pretty
red Cinelli Super Corsa (set up as a fixed gear). Buy all the same
color cars/parts/etc. Most of my other bikes are blue, and this
red one stood out like a sore thumb.
6 blue bikes. 8 blue bikes. Whatever. 6 blue bikes + 1 red bike =
TROUBLE.
Note: I have my wife trained to believe that this particular
addicti, er hobby, is not only self sutaining but money making.
Every so often I sell some no longer needed components on ebay and
bank the proceeds. After all, if I need them later, I can just buy
them again :)
She saw the red bike and just shook her head after ascertaining
that it did not involve a significant capital outlay, but that it
in fact was leftover from a rush of product *out* the door (which
in fact was true, but that's irrelevant <grin>.
