Subject: [s-cars] Lifter Noise
Matt, a lot of what people think is lifter noise on a modern port fuel
injected car is the injectors cycling. The injectors make a clicking
noise
that sounds very similar to a lifter. MGH
I wasn't going to bother but, yes, that's exactly what I was going to
suggest. Hopefully many here have ears that hear the difference, but
those ears got 'that way' by first not knowing, soooo.
Many cars are like this, my mom's old Volvo 850 was esp. audible in the
fuel injection department.
The injection clatter is oh yes very exacerbated by the NEA aluminum
rail cover / microphone / clattermegaphone... er as well as by the NEA
LWChatterwheel.
Er and (to make this a completely tied in thread this week), coupled
with my low-by-1.8 quarts-of-Mobil 1-oil-pan at any given time and all
that valve clatter, well, it's darn near akin to a '72 Benz 240D or a
Model T at times. And for that I laugh, because, well, it's amuzing.
70k+ later and the fat lady still sings @ 152k...
