[s-cars] Lower door trim, redux...

The lower door trim is a simple job.

To remove, open the door. Grab the trim at the rear edge of the door and
pull to the rear. The small black plug at the front of the trim will pop off
and the trim strip will slide off the clips. Wash the accumulated dirt and
crap off the clips and door and slide on the new trim. You may need a new
plug for the front end of the trim. You may also have some rust under the
trim clips - it may be a good idea to pop them off to clean up under them
and look for paint failure.

I sealed the ends of the new trim to try to prevent the rust failure of the
steel core. Another failure point is the front plug - the spring clip that
secures the plug cuts through the plastic on the trim, exposing the inner
steel core to the elements.

OK, So the ECS Tuning kit is $170, which ain't too shabby.
I need to redo all four, so that kit makes sense. Now, for the question -
has anyone written up *how* to do this without breaking stuff? I want to do
this right, so that it'll be a fix to be proud of, to show off to my wife
and say, "see, I can fix stuff!"
Hints, tips, and suggestions welcomed. :)
While not to re-energize a flame-fest, I thought some about my S6 vs. Lexus
and Acura cars of that same era. ISTR that the Lexus cars were M-B
knock-offs in style, and had Buick-like ride quality. The Acuras of that age
were barely more than tarted-up Hondas. And I don't think any of them could
perform nearly as well as the S6. Of course, they didn't cost as much,
either. And I don't think there's going to be an "Acura-fest" or a
"Lexus-fest" any time in the near future! Just like you don't buy a Ferrari
for it's ease of maintenance and reliability, you don't buy an S-Car for
it's mere transportation ability. Heck, if that's all I wanted, I could buy
an A1 Scirocco, drop in a 1.8T mill, full 16V leather interior, and still
have a ton of money left over for replacement bits.
While it would be fun, it wouldn't be an S-car. :)
Now, about that door trim BTDT...
