The ECU diode was fried, replaced it, and it was fine. I bought 10 of them
so if anyone needs one let me know. I'd like to thank everyone for all
their helpful input.
The next question:
My S6 has high miles, 196K and counting. It has been sitting unused about 2
years. I am replacing the t belt and all the related stuff. My question
is:
What would you replace to make sure you don't get stranded somewhere?
Within reason, like, I'm not replacing all the coils for no reason, but I
may carry a spare. Slave cylinder?
What else commonly craps out and leaves you on the side of the road? What
should I be looking out for? I'm planning on having the alternator and
starter rebuilt, or doing it myself if the parts are available.
Another question, I bought this car with 100K on it in 1998. Do I keep it,
do the work that is needed to bring it up to par, or sell it and buy another
100K mile car and start all over again!? What is the highest mileage SCar
out there? Anyone know? I'd like an idea about how far this car will go.
I suppose forever if I keep feeding it money. I'll have to say it's been a
pretty reliable car for the second 100K. I didn't really do any unexpected
work on it over the years, T belt once, brakes, but nothing major.
Thanks !
