  One point is the new European oil ratings. If you check Audi
recommendations the only Mobil 1 oils that meet Audi's recommendations are
the 0W-40 (barely meets the requirement), 10w-40 (Better if you can find
it), or the Mobil 1 truck and SUV formula.
  There was a good article on Audi/VW oil recommendations a few months back
in the Audi club magazine this past summers issue. For our older Audi's the
HTHS (High Temp High Shear) rating was a min. of (3.5) Mobil 1 10W-30 only
has a HTHS of (3.21) for example. Another thing, I have bad mouthed Amsoil
for years, but a look at the Data sheets on Amsoil shows that almost all of
their Oils do better than Mobil 1. On the other hand, even better is Redline
which beats pretty much every American made oil. You can go to most
manufacturers website and find their product data sheet and by now most will
test for the European standards which are stricter than SAE standards.  MGH
