993/996/997 are all rear engine, rwd cars. The NSX has serious toe issues, hence it's tire appetite. I can get 20k miles out of a set of S03's, I expect about the same from the 615, as that's what it's marketed as. I've gotten 8-10k miles from RA1's, if I wanted an R tire, I would've bought one. I expect more from a street tire. If Falken wants to rename the 615 the 615R, then I'll know what to expect.

Considering that a Porsche 993/996/997 can do a pair of 295s in 5k miles and a NSX can kill A022s
in about that time, all of these being much lighter cars by several hundred pounds, it's not that surprising.
You're buying a gumball tire- are you that surprised that the tire longevity is poor? Tire longevity and grip
are not complementary factors in tire design.
How do you know that RA-1s would last longer- have you run them on the street in the same conditions?
If you want more longevity, I'd recommend something more street-oriented, like the Goodyear F1-GSD3 or
Continental Sport Contact 2.
7-10k is all I'd expect out of a set of RE-070s on my car, the RT-615s are a similar type of tire. A friend of
mine got 7k out of a set of Bridgestone RE-011s, which are an OE summer tire on a sport sedan, not
designed as a gumball tire, but he drives hard. Another guy I know got about 8k out of a set of
SP8000E on his A4 1.8T.

I'm sure that is a contributing factor, but 8k miles is pretty weak.

It probably doesn't help that you're driving a relatively heavy car on those tires.

I have the Azenis 615's on my street rims for the '01 S4 right now. Good tire, but I'm *very* disappointed with the wear! I did one DE (a gentle one) and 2 auto-x's on em, otherwise all street miles. At 8000 miles, they're almost down to the wear bars. With that kinda wear, I'd rather have gotten Toyo RA-1's, which would've lasted just as long and been far better for DE's and auto-x.
