The reason why I ask is because on the Miata, the balancer has the same
issue, but when it comes unglued, disc that carries the timing mark is free
to rotate. Suddenly TDC isn't TDC anymore. Of course, the Miata has a
non-interference engine, so even a majorly out of whack belt does not yield
bent valves.
