You may not need the pistons. I just went with new pistons at 168,000 miles
with a car that has turned a Mile High 430hp/460tq. The stock pistons were good
as new. Stock pistons should be good up to 600 crank hp or about 500 ATW
given a 20% drive train loss. The only reason I went with the new pistons was
because of a 2.5 stroker build and they just wouldn't work in that application. I
did go with 83mm Wiseco coated pistons set up for the 92.8 stroker crank and
retained my Pauter rods.
My rod suggestions would be Pauter and Carrillo. They can be had with Jim
Furdyn at ///Audi5TurboTech 856.577.3132. Jim is a very good guy and fellow
lister that I have no financial obligation with but I am a very satisfied customer.
He has both the Pauter, $975 and Carrillo, $1375. I would not recommend any
sort of aluminum rods on these rather high spirited turbo I-5s. HTH
