I personally pre-fill the filter with oil before screwing the filter on.
That works out
to 4 US quarts of oil after the pre-filled filter is added.

BTW, the Mann filter P/N is 719-30.

Also, if you are using the drain plug, do NOT forget to replace the gasket
each time.
They're actually copper and they are designed to deform when properly
tightened
(the Bentley specs 22 lb-ft) but I, as suggested by Igor have a Fumoto T207.


While you're changing oil, probably not a bad time to retorque the spark
plugs as
a precautionary measure.

FWIW, I use either Mobil 1 10W-30 but I will probably go for Rotella
Synthetic 10W-40 when my M1 stock runs out. Both are availible at WallyMart
for around $22/5qt jug.
