I have a 95.5 S6. It has the Bilstein shocks and H&R S6+ springs. 
The ride is tolerable but a little stiff for me. It does help the handling some, 
but I am not sure it is worth the trade off. I don't know what you consider 
acceptable though. It is not as stiff as a Mitsubishi Evo, but more comparable 
to a Porsche 996 Turbo. Maybe just a little softer than the Porsche, but not 
much.
