-------These are graphs and other info addresses from the Garrett website. If you go there, you will see that there are more than one of each , GT3071R , GT2876R, and only one , GT3076R... Also , there is another section of the site called , TurboTech, which is pretty good for us new comers...all of which will aid the understanding of the info from thoes on the list who have experience and have used different turbos'. Turbonetics also has a website with some info that will help. I have not found a site , yet , which has good info on Japanese Turbos' .. I have been "told" that Mitsubishi manufactures Turbos for there cars and others , such as Subaru. ... Hope this helps , ...Stephen '85Urq EFI and lookin to replace the old K26. :))

The explanation on Javad's site is accurate. The diff between the 2871 and 2876 is the major diameter of the compressor wheel. The 76 is 76mm, the 71 is 71mm. Same is true with the 3071 vs. the GT30R (AKA the 3076.).

Personally, I love the 30R. However, it is soft below 3800rpm, so most folks prolly wouldn't like it as a daily driver. It doesn't bother me a bit, and since I don't do a whole lot of city driving, the extreme power from 4-8k rpm makes it a no brainer for me. It will also surge if you load it up at a low rpm in a higher gear.

I believe most anyone would love the 3071. Comes on very quick, and makes very nice power. It does run out of gas around 6500-ish rpm, however.

I am not really sure either. It looks like the 2871 makes more HP than
the 2876. The Garret webpage has info:

But why they are different, I need to be educated.

  OK, I give up, what's the difference between a 2871 and a 2876?

Last Sunday, during our Leavenworth Beer and Brat's run, I met Dan P.
  at
AMD. Dan is running a GT 2876 and likes it. I have done some poking
around and it seems like it might be a good upgrade from a KKK RS2
  turbo
for a daily driver with no serious aspirations of going to the track,
  etc.

  Javad's comparison (2876 and 3071 but no 3076):

  What say ye?
