[s-cars] Fluctuating Temp Guage

My Urs6 is developing a little oddness, back in Jnauary i changed the thermostat ever since then she has run at bang on 90 degs on the gauge, am now seeing it drop maybe 5 to 10 degs, i can't say it does this at any particular moment i.e when speed increases, sometimes it will do it going down a hill.

yesterday we drove 350 miles most of it motorway between 85 and 90 mph, it was back to normal it did drop only twice on that journey and very quickly came back to normal. any ideas??? i have yet to pull the codes but don't think i will find anything.

Is the sensor right on the back of the head the temp gauge btw???
