[s-cars] S6 Heated Door Mirrors

I know that they work when using the heated rear window but are they on some sort of timer or a thermostat???? they don't seem to stay on for very long. Mirror glasses are brand new btw. The drivers mirror glass on the back has a round something or other whereas the passenger one doesn't just wondered if this was a thermostat.
