Mintex Red Box. Reasonably effective, not dusty, cheap.

Gotta hear it first hand. The prop shaft bearing resonates in the 
multiples of ca. 35mph.

I hope it's not the latter.

Just clean the ISV with carb cleaner and see if it goes away.

My wife and I own(ed) the same set of cars as you and your wife do. My 
'97 UrS6 beats both the wife's old '98 A4 1.8T quattro and her present 
'04 allroad  2.7T quattro hands down on the joy of ownership factor. I 
am sure you will enjoy yours.
