I'm not really enamored of uber-bucks sports sedans. With cars like the
2002, the
E30 and E36 325i and to a lesser extent the B5 A4 and S4, the cars had a lot
of
fun-to-drive factor, plenty of power and were relatively reachable for most
people of
decent means.
When you're talking about a $70-90k sedan these days (M5, RS4, C55), they're
too expensive.
I'll take a 6-7 year old one, yes, but these days the cars are getting so
freaking complex
and unserviceable that it's a scary proposition. Since performance became a
really
hot selling point a few years back, the bar has been raised a lot.
In that regard, I'd rather get a Cayman S, Corvette or Elise for big bucks
($50k+) and
have a clean UrS like what Keith is selling right now, rather than a RS4 or
M5. That's just me
and I'm highly atypical of a consumer.
Heck, I'd rather go for a leased A4 3.2 stick and have a 993C2S in the
garage rather than a RS4
or M5. Or the popular car of the day, the D2 S8, along with a Cayman S or a
Z06.
