Mark,

I'm on my second C5 A6, a '99 avant I bought with 140K on the
clock. I actually like it better than my '02, not quite sure why.

Anyway, these cars are a dime/dozen, so either pick up a screaming
good deal or wait for the one you want. I'd say a screaming good
deal on an '00 with 80K is anything under $8K, maybe $9K...if it
has Bose, xenons, etc.

They're nice cars, fun to drive, very comfortable. I've added
aftermarket (HSport) sway bars, Bilstein shocks, 17" wheels, sport
seats and 3 spoke sport wheel.

Each year they got better and more complicated (less reliable).
One nice thing about the '00, IIRC, is that it has a double din
radio, which allows you to upgrade to the european Nav system, a
*wonderful* upgrade. My '99 has a single din radio, so installing
the Audi factory Nav system would be a big upgrade...

Typical things that go -- control arms, tie rod ends, shocks at
80K are toast, instrument cluster (fading), nothing else too
bad...typical Audi stuff :)
