Paul-
I'd like to hear your impressions of the RS6- I was not impressed at all,
especially
taking into consideration the $50k+ asking price of most of them.
The S8 is definitely a neat car, although the lack of a manual transmission
really hurts.
Regardless of what some listers have said about the cars, IMO the S8 and the
RS6
really need the manual transmission- automatics don't shift fast enough,
don't have the
right gearing and generally aren't responsive enough for fast driving. They
also freewheel
and lack engine braking- that's my biggest sticking point with automatics.
Manually
shifted even with steering wheel paddle shifters, they're still not very
responsive.
BTW, don't drive a D3 S8 if you get a D2- the D3 chassis is so much better-
the "regular"
A8 only lacks power to take advantage of the chassis, which the V10 would
fix handily.
