In our S6 I also mount my V1 high, but I'd disagree that mounting it
on the dash significantly reduces warning time. RF energy gets to the
V1 in either location at "the same time" unless you somehow block the
aperture. In our ML the V1 sits on the dash, located so it gets a
clear view unobstructed by wipers.

I use my V1 on my motorcycles as well. I bury the unit at the bottom
of a tank bag. I use the remote display and the audio output box and
get warnings promptly every time.
