[s-cars] GT2871 installation

i'm installing a GT2871 hybrid in my car. it has not been a plug-and-play
project. i'll summarize later, but right now i have a problem and would
like to see if other people with GT2871 or GT3071 (or other garrett hybrids)
have run into this.

i am replacing a stock turbo. the GT2871 is now bolted to the stock
downpipe and RS2 exhaust manifold. when i place the wastegate and corrugated
flex pipe on the exhaust manifold, the other end is about a half inch away
from the corresponding flange on the downpipe. it is also misaligned (side
to side) by a half inch. i have tried to force them to line up, without
success. the bellows doesn't seem to have enough compliance. i've been
advised to use longer bolts and force the flanges to line up. i'm not sure
if i can do this without damaging the flex pipe.

has anybody dealt with this issue? i measured between the centerline of
the turbo-exhaust manifold flange and the face of the turbo-downpipe flange.
on the stock turbo, it's about 1.1". on the GT2871, it's about 1.5-1.6".
that extra half inch causes the downpipe to sit further back, and that's
about the size of the gap i'm seeing at the flex pipe to downpipe connection.

a lister told me that he's installed a number of garrett hybrids, and
they've always lined up with the wastegate and flex pipe.
