I don't know exactly what the setup is on an E36 M3- I seem to recall
twin-pipe with twin cats, though.
If you have enough space to do it, you could get replacement high-flow cats
that you would have to cut and splice in.
Maybe that's what they meant about cat guts? You can get replacement cats
complete from BMW, that's for certain.

Now I don't know the difference between DEC and Miller, but those two keep
popping up. Looks like DEC is non-CARB compliant on OBDII cars, while
Miller's is.
BTW, don't cheap out on cats for the BMW- they're pretty sensitive to
exhaust changes as the engine is tuned pretty well from the factory- a lot
of aftermarket exhausts lose power rather than gain. With cats, if they
can't flow well, they'll choke the exhaust flow. On the other hand, if they
flow too well, you might need to get the ECU recalibrated for the change
