Chuck;
That sounds about right for OEM parts. My '94 S4 pressure plate lost a
couple fingers in the middle of winter a couple years ago and I replaced the
OEM clutch, release bearing, bearing guide, rear main seal, tranny input
shaft seal, and slave cylinder while everything was opened up. The flywheel
was perfect and there was lots of lining left on the disc at 250,000 km.I
had the local dealer do the work (laying on my back under a carport at -40
lost it's appeal many years ago). It took about 10 hours or so and cost me
around $2500 if I recall correctly.

Subject: [s-cars] Clutch Replacement
Hey guys,
My car has reached 147k miles and it is time to replace the clutch. I do
most of the work on my car myself but when it comes time for somebody else
to touch her I wont give her to just anyone, so I will be heading to
northern European automotive in NH tomorrow morning for the replacement.
The previous owner had work done there and from what I understand they are
good guys and they know their way around an s-car.
My question is they told me a stock clutch would be the best solution as my
car is only lightly modified (MTM 1+, stromung, samcos, suspension.) and
that the clutch will cost around $600 with about $600 in labor. Does this
sound right? Seems a little high for the clutch to be $600, blauparts and
autohausaz have some saches ones for around $350 but I'm not sure if they
are OEM, are they? Is there a cheaper way to source a stock clutch?
Thanks,
Chuck
