2007 Solo Rules, p. 80, section 14.10 (E)(1):
1. Reprogrammed ECU may be used in the standard housing.
Traction control parameters may not be altered. Altered
engine controllers may not alter boost levels in forced induction
engines.
You can't run a chip that increases boost on a turbo car.
STX is a street tire category, tires have to have a treadwear of 140, you
cannot run R compound tires.
Evos are specifically excluded and run in STU actually, so that's not an
issue.
Other clubs run different rules, but if you want to run competitively, you
have to prep the car to the rules, not the other way around, otherwise,
you'll end up with an uncompetitive car. For example, my Miata is mostly
STS2 compliant, but I have an aftermarket steering wheel, which is not
allowed- if someone were to protest, I'd be DQed.
For autocross, suspension tuning can be quite a bit unorthodox- for example,
most cars benefit in stock class from a huge front bar- the increase in roll
stiffness and improved camber control is a greater benefit than the
theoretically huge increase in understeer that this mod would cause.
Since you can use crash bolts in STX, you can adjust for max camber that
way- sorry, I was thinking about stock class.
You competition sounds like you're totally mismatched- run a SCCA autox
against G Stock and STS/STX competitors and see how you do- it's hard to get
a gauge on how you're driving if you don't have some sort of yardstick.
Sorry for all the armchair QBing.
