Paul-
As the Canepa ad said, the 930S Cabriolet is one of approx. 28 made for
1989.

Carrera Cabriolets came out in 1984- that's worldwide. The 911SC Cabriolet
was made for one year only, 1983.

Targas have seal issues as well, they're not very watertight, often.

Good luck finding a clean Carrera cabriolet for $20k- that's awfully low. It
seems like even the Carrera coupes go for about $20-25k in excellent
condition.

I have no interest in 911 cabriolets, so I can't give you a ton of pointers
on what exactly to look for other than make sure you have a thorough PPI
done by a qualified Porsche mechanic and make sure the top and the cosmetics
are in good condition- that would be the most expensive thing to fix besides
poorly repaired bodywork.

What's the budget? IMO, you're better off getting a Boxster S if you're set
on a cabriolet- the car was designed as a cabriolet from the beginning,
better performance, better ergonomics. About the same price as a nice
Carrera Cabriolet from the '80s. Just make sure there are no rear main seal
issues.
