really?  my car has 155k miles on the original ones.  i just replaced another outer CV boot on the driver's side - the old one lasted only 4 years.  i might have to do the passenger side again soon, since i replaced that about 3 years ago.

i just noticed a small shuddering that seems to come from the rear right corner, judging by the fact that the steering wheel doesn't vibrate and i notice it more with my right butt cheek than my left.  it occurs briefly under acceleration and then disappears.  i'd be mildly surprised if it was a CV joint in the back, since those don't get a lot of flexing.  i'm not sure if it's a driveline or suspension issue yet.  could it be driveshaft?  the gearshift knob doesn't vibrate when this shudder occurs.

So about how long do these last? I had new ones at about 80K miles under
ext.warranty. Should I prepare for another set at 160K under 'normal'
driving? Just had an outer boot done - 1.5 hours of labor - but I'm glad I
didn't do it.
