[s-cars] Bentley error?

I was browsing through the Bentley manual (got tired of the dictionary) and
ran across this interesting item in the transmission section. It's on page
34-63, 'Transmission end cover, assembly'.

It says "Heat 5th and 6th gear synchronizer ring to approx. 1205C (2485F),
install and drive home free of play."

Besides the fact that I can't imagine how one would get something that hot,
that's above the melting point for some steel alloys. This can't be for
real, can it? Did they maybe drop a decimal point?
