Tim,
the plastic bracket is held in place by two screws and a bit of glue.
Remove the two screws and you can pull the bracket off.
Purchase a replacement license plate mounting kit from your local
auto parts store. It will cost ~$4.00 and contain 4 plastic snap
in nuts and 4 screws.
Purchase a 2 part plastic epoxy.
The snap in nuts may snap right into your plastic bracket, or you may
find you need to file to allow them to fit.
Most likely you will also find that 1 or more of them fit in the hole
but are loose. This is where the epoxy comes in, you will mix up some
epoxy to fill in the areas around the plastic nuts. If you have ALOT
of slop you may wish to mount your license plate to the 4 plastic snap
in nuts with the screws provided to ensure the nuts are positioned
properly.
Set aside the plastic bracket to allow the epoxy time to set up.
Using the 2 metal screws remount the plastic bracket to your car.
Carefully check the screws provided for length, mine had to be
shortened
otherwise they bottomed out on the body of the car.
Did this repair on two cars 3 years ago, no problems since and the
screws cant rust to the nuts.
