[s-cars] voltage regulator

I was hoping that someone might have some advice on how to change the
voltage regulator in a 1995 S6. I have already looked at the FAQ on
audiworld but the pictures look different from what I have. There is a black
cover on the back of mine and a few wires plugged into the back of it. Do I
need to disconnect those wires to get the plastic cover off or will the
plastic cover side around these wires, as I assume that the VR is behind
this cover. I have found it a very tight spot to work in. Any help would be
appreciate.
