Yeppers. You need to push and twist at the same time.  There's a tool for it
- you can get cheap one from Harbor Freight or better ones from other tool
sources but it is also available from most big retail auto parts joints that
have lend/rent programs...

The hack-job alternative is some kind of C-clamp or other woodworking type
clamp but you have to balance and twist and push and stand on one foot with
your thumb in your ear while reciting the Bhagavad Ghita backwards or
something to get it not to slip off... BTDT several times, and the real tool
is 1000x easier and more satisfying, it just works quickly with no hassles.
There's an Autozone in Waltham right? I bet you can get it from them in 5
minutes.
