I can't comment on the Nexens, but I def. agree re: Michelin PS2.
The PS2 is my favorite tire for a luxury/sport sedan, with a compromise of
quiet ride, composed handling and excellent dry and wet characteristics.
I'm running PS2s on my V70R with very good results- going on two full
seasons with them now- lots of grip, great for wet weather (doesn't
hydroplane and allows me to run at quite high speeds in heavy rain on the
highway), great braking, nice and quiet.
I'm running Bridgestone RE-01R on the Miata and RE-11 on the Corvette, both
chosen with dry grip as the primary factor, wet handling second and noise
and treadwear not even considered. That said, both tires are surprisingly
civilized and quiet- awesome dry grip, excellent in the rain (at least the
-01R is great in the rain- the Corvette never sees rain). In terms of wear,
the Miata has gotten about 10-12k of hard running on the current set and it
looks like I'll be able to run all summer with these tires still. Not bad at
all- my Falkens were done after a full season and I drive the car harder now
then I did with the Falkens.
For comparison, I've also owned or driven for a decent amount of time and
did not like:
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
Pirelli P Zero Rosso
Continental Sport Contact 2
The Sumitomo HTR-ZII were great, but not in the same league. I hear
repeatedly that the III are quite a bit better than the II.
