[s-cars] summer tires

Yes, I will. I've always had good luck with Dunlops; there's enough good
chatter out there about the Z1 Star Spec and I didn't hear any horror
stories, so I ordered a set. Plus there's a $50 rebate from Dunlop, which
brought the cost for a 245/40/18 down to below $180 per - not givin' 'em
away but not RE-11 country.

I guess you'll find out and let us know, right? :-)
What I've found is that the cheaper tires tend to be more one-dimensional-
they might have awesome dry grip, but compromised severely in ride quality
or in wet performance or treadwear or some other factor.
With the best of the higher-end tires, you get well-rounded performance- the
RE-11, the PS2 are much better tires overall- smooth ride, low noise,
awesome grip.

The biggest obstacle to the RE-11s is $$$ - they're $100/tire more than the
Dunlops, which seem to have a loyal following - I wonder if they work almost
as well?
