Well as long as you can catch the fluid so it doesn't kill your carpet don't worry about it dripping out.
A)The supply of fluid to the clutch system is well above the bottom of the brake fluid reservoir. It can't ever drain far enough to get air to the brake system.
B)When replacing the clutch master cylinder you are going to drain the fluid out anyways and will need to bleed the clutch hydraulics.
One more item of note. You said "the clutch "master" which has brake fluid in it not hydraulic fluid as pointed out." Brake fluid *is* a type of hydraulic fluid. Yes, we all knew what you meant in this instance, but I just want to point that out for your future reference. To be certain to distinguish the two you might stick with "brake fluid" and "central hydraulic fluid" (the latter being commonly abbreviated to CHF).

>> Pentosin - I understand now. The only fluid with that label/brand that I've had in my garage was brake fluid - the yellow stuff - glad I had some to use before air got into the system but I guess it's the worst stuff to have leak into the carpet. Fortunately, the mat took the brunt of it and barely any residue on the carpet - already shampooed, scrubbed, and dried but the mat if most likely junk or just right for winter driving.
