The master on the firewall is the hi pressure side, the one on the pedal assy is
the low pressure unit.
Diagnosis via Al Gore's inertweb is always a risky proposition....if the leak
isn't from the pedal slave, then it must be coming from behind the firewall
master . If thats the case, thats the first time I've heard of that being an
issue.
Here's what I did to pinpoint the source on an S I had a while back.
Stuff a clean white t shirt in the area in question. Drive it for a few hours or
a day and pull out the shirt. In my case, the shirt had spots telltale to it
being the slave seal blown out. Had it been dripping from the back of the
firewall....it would've never hit the t shirt.
hth...but ymmv...may cause dizziness...upset stomach or maybe even severe
diarrehea.

More information - so I looked at my FA and see item #12 on
illustration #721-25 a master cylinder. This is what is dripping (or
has fluid dripping from above it onto this and then into my plastic
carpet saver).
