What's important about the bearing kits is who the bearing oem is....try to find one that uses a FAG or equivalent oem.
I'd recommend being wary of cheap Chinese made bearings.

The difference between buying the bearing and the bearing "kit" are the addition of replacement nuts & bolts & circlip

I believe the front bearings are different than the rear, but don't have the family album with me to verify

Unless you are using a hubshark or similar device to remove and replace the hub, the process requires pulling the strut assembly and pressing out the old and inserting new bearing with a hydraulic press.
It's pretty difficult to retain the exact position of the upper strut mount when pulling the assembly, hence the alignment.
