Chris,
Sounds like ignition switch broke and took out the starter too.
or
Could be a coil shorted to ground.   Check fuses down by the ECU.  I think there's three down there.
If the fuse is blown, get a few of them and disconnect one coil at a time and turn ignition.  If fuse does not blow the disconnected coil is bad.
Either way a pita.
