Answering everyone's questions:

    • The car was able to start from push starting at the car wash, so it does run,
    • starter not turning the engine from the key. The car was just driven for five hours in slow drive through I-70 mt. corridor from west side of Colorado, I have had some quirky on ignition key issues of late, needing to jiggle the key to get the all the interior light/hvac and stereo to work
    • Lights are all on at the dash, turning the key gives no click or starter turning, lights on the dash go dark as the key is turned
    • bottom splash panel still in place. I have not removed it to determine if I inadvertently shorted wires to the starter, I will do this next, this might be the best place to look next,
    • No apparent accumulation of water at the top of the engine, and thereby shorting the coil packs as the car ran upon push starting
    • My garage is home to two hibernating old 911s so I can not put the S6 in there to dry out, however it has been warm and dry here in Denver the past three days.

I was wrong to spray the compartment and I hope the Audi gods will forgive me. The S6 does not get much service anymore

as my A3 is my daily commuter car now.  Just love the car and its seats and can bring myself to ever sell it.

Keep your thoughts and ideas coming lads, THANKS!

Having done the same thing...ONCE......did you pull the coil pack/spark plug cover off the top of engine. You can fill the spark plug area with water. Misfires, etc. Take it off , dry it out, and usually fixes the problem. That old oring type gasket on the cover loses its seal after a while.

Hi guys. I am back on the list again after a very long hiatus.

Came back to Denver Friday from Glenwood Springs in my 95.5 urS6 Avant

in? a? very heavy snow, long slog, slow drive. I decided to wash the extensive magchloride encrusted ice

off the car immediately. Engine was turned off.?In an?afterthought, ?I opened the hood and sprayed the engine compartment

as well, using only water.? Got into the car and the girl would not start. :^(

Pushed started it and drove it home.? Two days later, I try to start it and it?will not crank.

I charged the battery (not the problem) and checked every fuse. Still no go.? Checked the

ignition packs on the engine firewall, nothing obvious there either.? Nuts!

What or where should I be looking?? Thanks a bazillion!
