I didn't realize this myself. It has been clear for a long time VAG has been
computer restricting the 2.0T power purely to leave HP marketing room for
the V6 so the I4 clearly has enough power for any of the cars it goes into.
Although I wouldn't put it past them at some point to do another TT 225
marketing trick (BS) where they sell two versions of the exactly same motor
so you can pay more to not buy the crippled engine software.
But re: 3.2, I'm fine with it since I've never found the V6's to be very
remarkable and the I4 turbos are such quick revving (ironic for a turbo)
nice driving little powerhouses... I'm more furious at the discontinuation
of manual transmissions in Avants and the aforementioned lack of the S4
Avant at al.

Reviews like that from you and others Taka are probably the only thing
keeping a shiny low mis. V70R from sitting in my driveway at this very
moment... On paper it sounds so good, and lots of Volvonauts absolutely love
them... less glowing reviews from those coming from Audis...

BTDT on looking for one of those - was hunting for a LONG time. Issues are:
A. B8S4A's are rare and snapped up immediately when they hit the market,
usually at asking price.
B. Some horror stories still float around about the V8 in the S4 re: having
to pull the motor to do back-side maintenance when it gets up around 100k.
I haven't been able to figure out if those are anomalies or a real concern
(chime in if you have thoughts obv.)
