Hey Keith,
Wow sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately it's not entirely unheard of. It probably blew the plug out, in which case the plug wasn't torqued properly and worked itself loose. That causes excess heat which is what caused it to melt the coil connector. I've seen this once before myself on a (then) Audi customer's car in 2002 when this happened to her on a drive down to NC from St. Louis...also, ironically a silver '95 S6 Avant. That car was sold to Kent Anderson in MN and I believe he helicoiled the plug hole and sold it through KAR back in the day. You may also get away with just helicoiling the head for the plug depending on how lucky you are. I think I've heard of that both here and on the QW forums.
Either way, good luck with it and don't let it discourage you from UrS ownership. It Shappens....sometimes even on Thanksgiving.

I hit "send" prematurely.
Was just going to ask if anyone has ever been here, done this. What are the chances I'll get away needing only a new head? Anybody have a line on a used head for a good deal? Boy, I'm not even sure what else to be asking.
Hope everyone else has had a better holiday than this. Thanks for listening/reading of my woes.
