A keyboard driver problem, I've seen it for years.... Amusing reads of internet summaries at best Taka. I enjoy driving and evaluating vehicles for folks that 'usually' come to me *after* they have done their research, and picked the machine already. That said, instead of regurgitating known issues on the 'early' Touareg v10tdi, take the opportunity to drive one (I'm partial to the '07 myself). Like the X5 before it that set the standard for on-road manners, that v10tdi is an impressive beast of the first order. Anyone that regurgitates it's reviews, has just plain and simple, without question: never driven one. Compare it to *any* other machine, and it's tough to not respect it, whatever you read of it's flaws.
I've urged many on this very forum, sir JNR included, to drive the v10tdi and type out the post-drive impression. The swell of torque that thing builds, defies logic, physics and ego. Kick those game-boy pedals out from under your desk Taka, give it a go! ;)
Gotta pack for Steamboat, seems torsen boy is actually driving a torsen there this year <:"P

Now you're really being funny- an allroad? That's a huge POS- failing air
suspension, failing turbos, super high labor cost to service.
Then you talk about a V10 Touareg- an even bigger POS that has an even
worse problem with failing air suspension, lots of electrical issues.
You conveniently fail to address BMW's continual problem with HPFPs that
still hasn't been solved and the fact that the open deck block will fail
with regularity if you boost the engine much beyond the OE spec.
Stick to Audis- at least with the latest 40/60 torque split quattros and
the efficiency of the 2.0T and 3.0T engines, there is quite a decent
product to consider. 8-speed auto improves fuel efficiency tremendously and
the A5/S5 twins are some of the best looking coupes that you can buy for
reasonable money. The latest chassis A6/A7 is also a phenomenal car with
the 3.0T, yielding impressive mileage figures while posting decent
performance as well. The only thing that Audi has really dropped the ball
on are the lack of manual transmissions all over the line as well as lack
of real LSDs in the diffs.
If you think that dropping the ethanol subsidy will increase diesel sales
in the US, you have a pretty poor grasp of the energy market.
