Re: the fan....i noticed that when i replaced my shattered (happened on
entry to 14A @ VIR cutting the return line to the reservoir which in turn
almost caused me to go off but that's an entirely different story) fan a
year ago, and when i removed it from the clutch before the VIR event this
Fall. It was wobbly and i figured the good fan would probably just cause
the clutch whole assembly to fail. I still haven't put it back on.

If I'm not mistaken, the AAN rotates clockwise (when facing the crank from
the front). If that's the case, the fan, being driven by the back of the
serpentine belt, rotates counterclockwise (again, as seen from the front of
the car). That means the action of the belt would tend to tighten a
normally threaded clutch connection and loosen one that was reverse
threaded.
My '93 part is definitely normal thread. The slight differences I can see
in the parts on my '92 made me wonder if it might be LH. I tried both
directions with quite a bit of force. A bigger wrench (with a drive
connection on the end, too) is on the way, so I'll either break it free or
just plain break it.
As an aside, has anyone else noticed that the fan is not radially
symmetrical? What's up with that?
