Sorry to hear of Bills car. Know the car and was proud to have known Bill too. Still keep a picture of him and that wagon hanging in my garage. I seem to lurk the list nowadays but at one time Bill and I exchanged many an email on this list. Someone needs to hijack that boost gauge setup out of that car! Night rider cool it was.
 
I sold my S6 avant when the first awd Dodge Magnum came out. I special ordered it and had the first one in the USA. Had a heni too dude. That car was nearly trouble free except for warping brake rotors and some steering rack issues. That car went away for a Cayenne turbo, which we still enjoy today with 150k miles. Two issues: coolant pipes and driveshaft bearings. Otherwise its a great all around ride and can be had cheaply. Tows great too. 
 
Tough calls out there but hot rods wagons are out there still. Cadillac and Mercedes still churn them out. My sons S4 avant is fun but small indeed. No family car.
