[s-cars] Battery vent required?

Hi all,

I noted the previous post a couple of weeks ago regarding battery suggestions, and was wondering about the need for a vent?  I seem to recall in my old urquattro there was a proper vent hose in the battery box, but I’m not so sure there is one in my urS6.  So, I’m wondering why the vent, and is it that important to have one with a vent?  And why would the manufacturers decide a vent wasn’t necessary anymore?  Sorry for all the questions, just need a battery and there are limited options here in the mountains.  Thanks!
