After too much lurking on the list lately I just wanted to share my
celebration with you all: Yesterday I was able to remove and replace the
turbo side engine mount without removing the airbox etc. It was achieved
with diligence from underneath....by removing the oil cooler and starter
motor! Highly non-standard procedure, but my oil cooler died and was coming
out anyway! The old unit looked like the Queen Mum's hip joint.... totally
fried! The turbo heat shield was in place... Hmmm..not sure what's going on
there? There is an additional lug on the aluminium engine mount on this side
that looks as if another shield could be attached...The existing one bolts
to the frame! FA doesn't show this lug or any additional shield...The fried
mount was replaced with the newer style "hydraulic" mount. Engine is now
over 1/2" higher on that side, not resting on the subframe anymore..phew!
Kind regards,
Paul
